The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) held its quarterly luncheon yesterday where Kelly Smallridge, President & CEO of the BDB, announced several new projects that will create hundreds of new jobs. In addition, representatives from several of the companies attended and were introduced during the event.

South Florida External Affairs Manager for Florida Crystals Corporation and Rosarian parent, Caroline Villanueva, helped organize and provide the entire experience for the students. The day began in the conference room with a brief overview of Florida Crystals and the process of harvesting sugarcane.

High school students who are currently enrolled in grades nine through 11 can now apply for the Construction or Mechatronics academies offered at West Technical Education Center (West Tech). The construction academy provides training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and air conditioning. The mechatronics academy allows students to gain technical skills in automation technology and apply those skills to manufacturing, engineering, and robotics.
